#mixitupmaypalettes Challenge Day 5: Ailing Yet Winging It

Day 5: Ailing Yet Winging My Way Through It

I'm still not feeling well (hence the daytime blog posts, so I took my time and attempted a crappy baby wing. I'm still learning to wing my liner.

Face: MAC Prep & Prime Face, NYX Color Correcting Concealer Palette, Cle de Peau Concealer (Ivoire), Tom Ford Traceless Foundation (Cream), Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder (Translucent), Shiseido Face Color Enhancing Trio (OR1), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (Incandescent Light)

Eyes: NYC Color Correcting Concealer Palette, Sephora Collection Bright Future Concealer (01Bavarian Cream), Smashbox 24 Hour Eyeshadow Primer, MAC Paint Pot (Painterly), Butter London Shadow Clutch, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow (Chocolate), MAC Fluidline (Dipdown), Urban Decay Supply Liner (lower), Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Excess Mascara

Lips: Sephora Collection Universal Lip Liner, MAC Lipliner (Whirl), MAC Lipstick (So Select)

Nails: Christian Louboutin Jazzy Doll

I'd forgotten just how silky, blendable, and lovely Butter London's eyeshadows are. There really isn't much fallout at all- only a bit with the darkest shadow that I used, the lovely blue/red/brown multichrome. That shade is a lot like MAC Club- it reads as a warm brown on the eye with some subtle flashes of color but blue in the pan.

Now, I know I'm terrible at winged eyeliner. First, the blown-out IG look:

And here's the full eye look. Kinda boring and basic.

Overall, not bad for a day when I'm ailing pretty badly. Bonus points for using MAC Fluidline when ill.

Running List of Palettes Used (QBB review linked when available):

Day 2: Chanel Tisse Rivoli
Day 3: MAC Pastel x 9

#mixitupmaypalettes Challenge Days 3-4: Watercolors Gone Wild

Since I'm playing catchup anyhow, I specifically wanted to group Days 3&4 together because they shared a single inspiration: my Kate Spade Silk Watercolor Scarf, a generous birthday gift from my mother this year.

Although I've linked the original listing in the prior paragraph, it's more vivid in real life:

You can see how this would be an awesome spring makeup inspiration, right?

Day 3: Watercolor in Real Life, Day One

Face: MAC Prep & Prime Face, NYX Cosmetics Color Correcting Concealer, Cle de Peau Concealer (Ivoire), Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Foundation (Alabaster), Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder (Translucent), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush- Ethereal Glow, ColourPop Super Shock Cheek- Lunch Money

Eyes: NYX Cosmetics Color Correcting Concealer, Cle de Peau Concealer (Ivoire), Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder, Smashbox 24 Hour Eyeshadow Primer, MAC Paint Pot (Painterly), MAC Pastel x 9, MAC Fluidline- Midnight Snack, Marc Jacobs Highliner- (Luna)tic, Tarte Gifted Mascara, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow (Chocolate)

That was so fun that I decided to re-interpret the same scarf twice. What?!?! It's allowable.

You may have noticed that I've been digging Essie Lounge Lover as of late. I love it so much that I bought 2 more bottles the last time I was at Ulta- one backup for me, and one to give to my mother for Mothers' Day. I'll do a post on it if it ever stops raining- and when I can pull my camera out.

#mixitupmaypalettes Challenge Day 2: Back to Earth

Day 2: Back to Reality, or Understated Neutrals with an Unanticipated Smoky Twist

After all of that fun, it was back to reality and work with a more streamlined, neutral look on Day #2. It was far smokier than I planned!

Given that I did my makeup quickly and at 4:30AM, I didn't photograph my face. I also chose to leave the lashes behind.

#Mixitupmaypalettes Challenge Day 1: Smoke and Rain

Although I'm doing pretty well on staying up-to-date on my Instagram (I owe Day 4 & Day 5), I'm going to probably post every few days here. I tried to keep track of my inspiration when possible.

Day 1: "If I'm Going to Do This...."/Rain, Rain Go Away!

The first theme of my makeup was a combo platter. I decided to go all out and do a full face on what otherwise be a fresh-faced lazy Sunday at home. It has been raining for what feels like 2 weeks straight, so Laura Mercier's Paris After the Rain palette seemed to be the natural first palette in rotation.

Face: MAC Prep & Prime Face (my go-to and 1 of 2 usual samples at checkout for any MAC order), Sephora Collection Bright Future Color Corrector- Green, Marc Jacobs  Cover(t) Stick- Co(vert) Affairs, NARS Concealer, Chanel Perfection Luminere Velvet (BR12), Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder- Translucent, Marc Jacobs #instamarc Light Filtering Contour Powder- 20 Dream Filter, Bobbi Brown Pink Lily Blush & Highlighting Palette, Chanel Les Beiges Powder (#10)

Eyes: Sephora Collection Bright Future Color Corrector-04 Peach, Sephora Collection Bright Future Gel-Serum Concealer- 01 Bavarian Cream, Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder,  Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow- Chocolate,  Smashbox 24 Hour Eyeshadow Primer, MAC Paint Pot- Painterly, Laura Mercier Paris After the Rain Palette, Revlon Natural Defining Lashes, Tom Ford Illuminating Pen- Lavender Voile, Bare Minerals Lasting Line Eyeliner- Absolute Black, Armani Eyes to Kill Classico Mascara

Lips: Sephora Collection Universal Lip Liner, MAC Lip Erase- Pale, MAC Lip Liner- Naked, MAC Dressed to Thrill & Long Legged & Fabulous Lipstick (mixed)

Nails: Essie Seen on the Scene (Summer 2016 Brights)

I took a quick photo of my eyes, all full of smoke and sass.

And here's my custom lip mix. MAC Lip Erase is a killer product- it lets me do this:

I considered Day 1 to be a success. I have four more days to update, which I'll be doing shortly.

An Update & QBB's Palette Challenge

Hi everyone-

As you may have guessed, my job has taken over my life again. Unfortunately, there's no signs of that stopping as there's no replacing departed personnel. Work-life balance is somewhat of a luxury to my employer. Since I'm not independently wealthy, I have to comply.

That said, I wanted to share with everyone the #mixitupmaypalettes challenge I have going on Instagram. I've been in a makeup rut, reaching for either my custom MAC palettes (not pictured; these babies deserve their own space) or the Tartelette in Bloom palette. Meanwhile, I have a ton of other items that aren't being used...

First, my inspiration:

I couldn't get it all in one photo, so here's a mini video that I posted to Instagram:

I should mention that I only grabbed for a total of 5 minutes. Yikes.

Yes, I have a ton of palettes, and I'm happy to be working through some of them. I'll try to write a wrap-up post every few days to share my #fotd. I'm thinking every 5 days? My goal is to work through as many of my palettes as I can before repeats since I don't use a lot of my collection.

For the rather critical new readers, my photos are my photos. I am not a professional blogger. I do the best that I can, but I am what I am. Last time the mean critics made me stop blogging- I'm on the fence right now to be honest.

Along with my #fotds, I'm going to be posting mini reviews of some of the products along the way. With my job taking over, this is what I can handle right now.  What I will try to do is get a feature up on the 3 new Christian Louboutin polishes (wearing Jazzy Doll right now) sometime in the next week if it ever stops raining.
