ColourPop Supernova Shadows in Moonlit and Walk of Shame

I'm sorry to be bringing you one of my big disappointments. I try to find the positive in most products (even if I pro/con them honestly), but these... they're better than the other liquid shadow that injured me, but that's a low bar.

After some mixed experiences with the Stila Glitter and Glows and loving the Wet n Wild liquid shadows, I (like half of the internet) pretty much fell over myself when ColourPop launched their new Supernova shadows ($7, 0.17oz/4.7g). I threw two of these into my most recent order.

Let's get into this.

Walk of Fame is a gorgeous nudey gold that has some serious bronze and silver sheen. It's rich and beautiful. I had all sorts of dreams on how to use it.

Here's a good look at the applicator on these. However, I don't use applicators with liquid shadows- I transfer the product to palettes and use little eye brushes.

Swatched, this looks stunning. I did these swatches before I tried them on the eye and I felt like this was promising.

I loved my testing look upon application, but I'll get into my issues with this product after showing you the other shade I picked up.



I'm a sucker for purples, despite being mentally scarred by another purple liquid shadow in the past.

Moonlit is a stunning, shiny warm purple. It reminds me of a certain other shade, without the p damage to my skin.

This is such a perfect color, in my opinion. I love how gorgeous it is, and it looked just like fall to me.

Now that we've all oohed and aahhhhed over just how beautiful these shadows are, let's talk about my experience with them.

I don't recommend them to anyone.

That pains me to say because I've been liking the ColourPop products that I've tried lately. And these are so beautiful. Here's what happened to me all of the times that I tried them, no matter the base. I've tried these on a bare lid, over a cream shadow, over a powder, and over Glitter Glue.

Across the board, these are flaky. Dangerously flaky in my opinion. Just don't mess with items that fall into your eyes- you have one set of eyes and taking care of them is incredibly important. It was such a mess every time that I wore it that I think it's the formula.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in 705 Jennifer's Pink

Today I'm happy to be sharing with you one of my sort-of rare purchases: a traditional drugstore lipstick.

L'Oreal recently brought out a series of Colour Riche lipliners, and I think these lipsticks might be new to go alongside. After I got a coupon for a L'Oreal lip product (yes, I love coupons), I decided to splurge on one lipstick to try the formula.

Today I'm going to be sharing 705- Jennifer's Pink. This is part of the Exclusive Pinks collection that's aligned with various celebrities.

I have nothing against Jennifer Lopez, but the celebrity association makes me not want to purchase a product.

OK, let's talk basics for a moment. These retail for $9.99 each at Ulta, and you receive 0.13oz/3.6 g of product.

Jennifer's Pink cried out to my Fall instincts- but it turned out to be different than I thought!

This looked like a deep berry and needed to be on my lips ASAP.

Let's go to the swatch and I'll reveal the big twist:

It's a Sheer Matte. What? Sigh. Not that the color wasn't beautiful, but I was looking for that deep berry. Let's look at it on the lips.

Jennifer's Pink is a beautiful shade, but I wish I'd done more research on the formula before purchasing. My pursuit of the berries continues.

Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighter Palette

I've been quite vocal that I'm in love with Wet 'n Wild's Megaglo highlighter formula. So when they announced their first highlighting palette, I was in.

I forgot just how bad Wet 'n Wild's shipping is. It took two weeks for this to cross the country to me- meanwhile, it launched at Ulta and I could've had it much faster. I did run into a glitch with the website after ordering that required me to contact customer service. They were very quick to respond- same day- so bravo to that.

But two weeks shipping. In 2017- heck it'll be 2018 in a month and a half. Not acceptable. Love your products Wet 'n Wild, hate your shipping.

The Megaglo Highlighting Palette retails for $14.99, and contains four new shades. The palette has a  net weight of 0.19oz/5.4g each.

There's no mirror, but the four plastic pans (in the cardboard palette) were protected by a plastic overlay.

Let's jump into these.

First up, Sweet Peony.

This is a frosty pink without that much pigmentation. I noticed right away that these shades are more glittery and less metallic than the singles.

Next up is Diamond Lily.

I've really been feeling blue highlighters as of late, so I had high hopes. This is ok, but not fantastic.


The lower left shade is Wild Cosmos.

This shade is interesting- it's green but there's some purple running through it. I loved it in the pan, but it's not as fab on my skin.

The final shade is Wild Azalea.

This shade looks pretty in the pan, but it's a dad. It disappears on me, and it's stiff to the touch. Also- that's actual glitter, guys.

Let's go to a group swatch and then we'll talk. I think the swatch (fingers) will tell you all you need to know with this one.

I'm somewhat baffled by this palette. These don't feel like the singles- and don't have that same glide. There's so much more glitter in these, and Blushing Azalea even is invisible on my NW13-15 skin.

I love this formula, and these are different. I see so much promise in these shades, but they lack the buttery high-end feel of the singles. There was a huge opportunity here, and I feel like it's just not up to the bar that Wet 'n Wild has set. Will I use these? Yes. Will I reach for these as often as the singles? heck no.

New ColourPop Shadows for Fall 2017

I'm sneaking in a second review today because I still had one more Fall 2017 collection to review- ColourPop. I purchased five of the new shadows that the brand released (one Super Shock and four Pressed Powder Shadows).

Let's start with ColourPop's classic formula- the Super Shock Eyeshadow (2.1g/0.074oz). 

I picked up shade Come Clean.

It's a bright yellow gold- something I've been wanting in my life, and the type of shade I wanted to re-acquaint myself with the formula with. These retail for $5 on ColourPop's website- and you need to be careful to keep it sealed so it doesn't dry out.

These swatch so well, and are the perfect lid shades. I don't see myself picking up a ton of these since I've decluttered so many of the ones I had when they dried out. That said, I love a good gold!

I also picked up four of the Pressed Powder shadows. This is a great formula- at a good price. These retail for $4 per pan, or $5 with a plastic package for a 1.5g pan.

There are already a zillion reviews, so I won't get into this in-depth. I think these shadows are really nice.

Now and Zen is the lightest shade.

ColourPop calls this a light gold. I'd concur- it's a white gold shimmer that I thought would be dynamite in the inner corner.

Once the onslaught of new eyeshadow slows, I look forward to testing this all over the lid. It's such a great, glowy shade.

Two Birds is up next.

ColourPop calls it a warm gold- I'd call it a warm golden peach, to be honest. 

This is a nice, smooth shade- no visible glitter. It's nice either blended on the lid or along the lower lashline.

Rose all Day has an interesting name.

ColourPop calls it a vibrant chartreuse, I'll buy that, although I'd just call it olive.

This is another smooth metallic that's lovely on the lid or on the lower lash line. AKA- another consistent ColourPop shade.

Glass Bull is the final shade.

It's an interesting texture- as you might be able to tell from the pan, post-swatch. According to ColourPop, this is a duochrome lavender icy blue. I'll buy it.

This is a lid-only shade to be used with a tacky primer. It's one of those nearly wet-feeling metallics that flakes. It's lovely though.

I'm continuing to be impressed with ColourPop but these are my favorite pressed shadows that they've released to date.

Kiko Milano Fall 2.0 Magnetic Eyeshadows & Eye Mask

After falling in love with the one Kiko Magnetic Eyeshadow that I initially purchased, I went back for more. Truthfully, it was the stunning performance with primer that made me think that I needed more of these.

There are a total of six shadows in this collection; my purchase means that I own half of the collection. These contain 0.7g/0.02oz each and retail for $16. I selected shades 04 Purple Mind and 06 Thinking Green to add to my collection.

In case you're interested, the remaining three shades were a deep copper, royal blue, and dark brown.

Let's start out with 04 Purple Mind.

I went back and forth on this shade, but decided that it was unique. I love the packaging- and think that having the bottom sticker match the shadow is a perfect touch.

04 Purple Mind is a sparkly, warm-toned purple. It's unlike anything else I have in my stash. And that's saying something. I normally go for the cool purples, but this screamed fall to me.

I love these magnetic loose pigments- they're so silky smooth. This shade also swatches like a dream.

That's one swipe, without any primer. When I tested this with primer, it still looked pristine when I removed it at the 14 hour mark. The performance of these shadows makes me wish I'd invested in the MAC Spellbinders last year. Oh, well.

Next up, 06 Thinking Green.

I'm so into green shadows right now, even though they're not necessarily the most flattering against my light blue eyes. It's all green everything though- this reminds me of a sweater I just bought. This... this is holiday.

It reminds me of a spruce green- just a tad of blue undertones to the forest green.

Just looking at how much was on the inner lid, I had a feeling this was different when I first opened it. I wish I hadn't been right.

But don't worry, this has a happy ending.  Just stay with me.

Here's the one-coat swatch, no primer. Go ahead and grimace with me.

WTF, right? The good news is that it builds up nicely. The following swatch is still no primer- but I patted 1-2 additional coats and built it up. This still doesn't exactly show how beautiful it really is.

So, I decided to get out Too Faced Glitter Glue.  And if I'm going to show you just how much of a difference the base makes, why not get out all three of these babies.

Behold the sparkly goodness.

What a difference, right? Now there's my beautiful shadows and the performance I'm used to. I think this shows why I'm quite smitten with these. With the 36M shelf life, I can actually see these getting used.


Now, I have a little bonus review to wrap up the post today. I noticed that there's an eye mask that pairs with this collection for a cool $6.

It's a black lace mask- this is the only in-action photo you'll see. I had a hard time with it being really large on me.  And yes, I do have a tiny, faint freckle/mole on my eyelid there.

It's not my favorite eye mask, and I didn't find it to be extremely hydrating. It was fun to try it once, but I wouldn't repurchase. There weren't any long-lasting benefits.


Overall, I continue to be impressed with Kiko's offerings. I'm writing this before the Holiday collection launches, but by the time that this goes live I will have made my way to my store to check it out. I'm only sorry that I didn't explore this brand earlier- it's consistently great products. The Magnetic eyeshadows are so good that I'm keeping these in my drawer for the month. That's saying something! I hope that additional shades are released in the future- I'd love a champagne.
