With so much of the country experiencing snow within the past few days, I thought I'd re-start the blog by bringing you my snow day beauty favorites. This is the exact combination that I wore while shoveling for hours- and why I chose each carefully curated item. This comes from a lifetime of living in areas with snowy winters- and never having the luxury of a garage/snow blower!
Please note the yummy throw- it may show up from time to time as a background. It seems right since we're talking winter. This picture really was taken by a fireplace (which was in use recently).
1. If you're planning to spend all day digging out in the snow, it's important to pamper your face a little bit more. I upped my moisturizer to L'Occitane's Shea Butter Ultra Rich Comforting Cream ($34, 1.7oz)(sample from last holiday's L'Occitane Advent Calendar) to give just a bit more protection. It has 25% shea butter, which allowed my sensitive skin to deal with the cold elements with nary an issue.
2 + 3. UV protection is a MUST, and you'll be getting a lot more UV (reflection from the snow) than you may estimate. Even though it's winter, protecting your skin is essential. I trotted out my regular daily duo- Chanel UV Essentiale Complete Sunscreen UV Protection Anti-Pollution Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($55, 1 oz) and Shiseido Sun Protection Eye Cream SPF 34 ($35.50, 0.6oz). In the time that I've been away from blogging, I have re-dedicated myself to a SPF'd lifestyle. This combo is my HG for use with daily makeup and provides as high of a SPF content as I can find.
4. A light base- I personally love Iope's Air Cushion XP as an awesome cushion compact. It's not available directly for sale online in the US, but it's worth tracking down. I'll post a full review in the coming weeks, as well as more info on how to find the most pale-complexion-friendly cushion compact on the market (IMO).
5. Even though I went au natural for blush and the cushion compact let my freckles (and rosacea) shine through, I have a few spots that I wanted to cover, plus my naturally-occurring dark circles. I could've pulled out my NARS Creamy Concealer, but Sephora Collection Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer ($14) has been in my rotation far more often as of late. PS- my NW15ish skin likes shade 01- Bavarian Cream.
6. Right now, my hair is a few shades darker than my natural shade, so filling in my brows is a must or I look silly. I adore my Tom Ford Brow Sculptor ($45) in Chestnut for a quick one-step brow. (In case you're curious, I love using MAC Cork with some Fix+ for additional coverage.)
7. This was one of two totally unnecessary steps, but honestly I wanted to test this out after getting a deluxe sample during the holidays. Any totally neutral eye pencil will do, but I wore NUDESTIX Magnetic Eye Color in Angel ($24), a lovely nude shade. It's my eyes but better. It wore decently well while exerting myself, but if I was going to do this over I'd pull out Laura Mercier's Eye sticks.
8. Pick out your favorite waterproof mascara. This is the one that I have open right now, Chanel Le Volume Waterproof Mascara ($32).
9. Your lips will need some pampering. Do it up right with the Rolls Royce of lip balms, By Terry Baume de Rose. I pulled out the special edition from Holiday 2015- the Gold Baume de Rose Parure Lip Balm ($31). It's Baume de Rose with shimmer. It's the best of both worlds- the luxurious lip balm and a glittery gloss.
10. Let's be honest, friends. Shoveling is an awesome cardio workout. Continue smelling awesome with a little bit of perfume oil. I pulled out one of my favorites, Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Perfume Oil ($35).
11. If you're heading out to shovel, or if you're simply taking a halftime break, a great dry shampoo is essential. Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo ($28) is my HG and beats the pants off of any other dry shampoo I've tried.
If you want to simplify, simply edit out the mascara and eye pencil. I didn't wear them on the first day that I was shoveling.
What are your snow day beauty must-haves?

Inside my Bag/Face of the Day: Color of the Year Edition
I was going through my closet recently and realized that I own a pair of ballet flats that can pass for Radiant Orchid, albeit a toned-down version. I also own a cardigan that matches these flats. Add in my positively beautiful Radiant Orchid-themed Dior makeover at the Sephora VIB Rouge Spring Social, and an idea was born.
You'll be reading a lot more about most of these items next month, since none of them are LE/Summer collection items. Given the composition of my daily makeup bag these last few months, it's actually quite surprising how little Burberry is present here. There's a reason I'm going 30 for 30!
Makeup bag: Butter London Boho Rock GWP Wristlet (still available several places if you search; or for purchase for $15 on their website).
Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick 01 Alabaster- I will have a lot more to say about this soon. This is my first foundation stick, and I'm getting adjusted to the formula. (not pictured!)
Dior 5 Colours Eyeshadow- Petal Shine
Dior Diorshow Liner Waterproof- 888 Plum
NARS Creamy Concealer- Chantilly
Dior Extase Mascara- April's monthly mascara. I had to treat myself to a favorite this month.
Dior Addict Lip Gloss-343 Spring Ball (used in conjunction with....)
Dior Addict Lip Glow
Dior Lipliner- Greige
MAC eyeshadow- Blanc Type
Chanel Les Beiges #10
Fresh Lip Balm- Clear
NARS Pro-Prime Eyeshadow Base
Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer
Tom Ford Santal Blush Perfume (sample
Also lurking in my purse:
Lancome Lip Lover #339*
Le Metier de Beaute Colour Core Lipstick*- Dubai
Also used in today's FOTD but not carried:
MAC Chromacake- Ivory- This is my trick for days when I've got patches of irritated skin, especially on my decolletage. This shade matches me well, so I use it as a body paint.
Butter London Molly Coddled Nail Lacquer
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder- Caramel
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Whiz- Caramel
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel- Clear
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Duality

FOTD: Daring Neutrals
Although I love bold colors, there's nothing more classic than a face of neutrals. I truly believe if you find neutrals boring, you just haven't met the right neutrals yet!
This was Friday's FOTD, which took me from work to dinner to date night. Those with eagle eyes may notice a couple of products that I haven't featured on the blog yet. Don't worry, those reviews will be coming in the next couple of weeks. I do need time to test products before I post!
1. Chanel Les Beiges No 10- This is a no-brainer for me.
2. Giorgio Armani Sheer Blush #10- Featured here, I'm rediscovering this old trusty favorite.
3. Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes #0L- I use this for tightlining and it's a part of every face that I do.
4. Marc Jacobs Beauty Magic Marc'er Liquid Eyeliner- If I had to use just one liner for the rest of my life, this would be it.
5. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer- Love it. It leaves such a lovely finish before I put my makeup on.
6. Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Foundation Ivory Light- This formula is becoming my HG, believe it or not.
7. NARS Pro Prime Eyeshadow Base- I've tried many primers but this is the one I'm loyal to.
8. NARS Creamy Concealer in Chantilly- Love it.
9. Dolce & Gabanna Passioneyes Mascara- March's mascara. I'm withholding my thoughts until the end of the month.
10. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel- I don't know what I did without this for most of my life!
11. Lancome Lip Lover Dewy Color Lip Perfector #332 Beige Adage- Perfection. Look for reviews of Lip Lover shades in the next few days.
12. MAC Eyeshadows- Honesty & Blanc Type- I use this duo all the time...
13. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder- Caramel
14. Benefit Boi-ing Concealer 01- Light- This is such a perfect match for my skintone.
15. Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow No 21 Midnight Brown- LOVE!
On my nails- Tom Ford African Violet.

FOTD: Weekend Testing Casual
It's been quite awhile since I've done one of these posts, and they always seem to go over well.
This is what I've been wearing the past couple of days (my weekend). I'm testing a new eyeshadow, which will be revealed in two days on the blog.

That's it- a quick and dirty Face of the Day/Weekend! When I'm testing a product (usually on the weekend), I try to keep the rest of my face close to my usual look. For me, the biggest departure is the switch back to my HG (d/c'ed) foundation. When I went to review the Sephora foundation pen, I discovered that I was essentially out of the foundation I've been using! (I was waiting until I had a good feeling on the foundation before reviewing. I guess I do, one bottle in! Oops!)
